Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC launches ‘Special Opportunities Fund’

- The new fund offer (NFO) is open and will close for subscription on 19th October.
- The fund can invest up to 25% of the corpus in international opportunities.
- The Fund is with an investment horizon of five years or more.
Aditya Birla Sun Life Special Opportunities Fund has been launched by Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC. It is an open-ended equity scheme that follows the special situations scheme. Senior Fund Manager Anil Shah, who has nearly three decades of experience in the field of equity research and investments. He will be the one managing the Special Opportunities Fund. Along with him, the team for fund management includes Chanchal Khandelwal and Vinod Bhat. The New Fund Offer (NFO) is open and will be closed for subscription on 19th October.
The MD and CEO of Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC, A. Balasubramanian say that “Markets have their own way of offering special opportunities to stock pickers. There are times when it will favor growth companies and sometimes it value companies. It doesn’t matter how good or bad a company is, in a time of uncertainty even good companies get impacted.
The money managers have to examine the hidden value so that it can be unlocked from these companies in the coming times. For the enhancement of the possibility that aims on the success of the companies, good managers need to back up these opportunities. For these kinds of potential opportunities, a passionate stock picker will be on the lookout. The Special Opportunities Fund will be run by a team, who has a massive experience to identify trends beforehand. The existing businesses are evolving and adapting to new emerging trends as it is believed that the time is just right to benefit from many special opportunities that exist today”.
The fund will look forward to having a focused portfolio from side to side which would bottom-up the approach of stock selection that is based on the size of opportunity, stability, and prospects of future growth along with the potential of growth in return on the margin of safety and equity.
Applying to special situations, the fund can also invest up to 25% of the corpus in international opportunities.
Balasubramanian adds, “Additionally, there is abundant liquidity which is advantageous for equity markets. It would help in making this the perfect time to look forward to these opportunities and it will come into this fund with an investment horizon of five years or more”.
