Amazon launched the Intellectual Property Accelerator (IP Accelerator) program in India on 4th July to assist sellers who are also brand owners, such as small and medium-sized businesses, in securing trademarks, protecting their brands, and combating infringement on Amazon. in and Amazon websites around the world.
According to a statement, these sellers, including small and medium-sized businesses, can choose to work with these IP law firms on Amazon. in and Amazon websites throughout the world to help obtain trademarks, defend their brands, and combat infringement.
The IP Accelerator program, according to Mary Beth Westmoreland, vice president of technology and trademark protection at Amazon, is already accessible in the United States, Europe, and Canada.

IP Accelerator debuted in the United States in 2019 and has since moved to Japan, Europe, Mexico, Canada, and now India. In India, the initiative was piloted in 2020 and had favorable comments from businesses.
The ease of having quick access to trustworthy legal services is particularly appealing to sellers with fresh company setup and youthful brand owners, the online store stated.
The IP Accelerator initiative will assist sellers in navigating this procedure by linking them with reputable IP law firms that are subject matter experts in this sector and have expertise in preparing trademark and other intellectual property registration applications. Businesses can work with these firms to overcome typical roadblocks that might otherwise cause a registration to be delayed.
Businesses may also use Amazon.in’s brand protection services to efficiently defend and manage their brand and intellectual property (IP) on the marketplace before their trademark is formally registered, according to the statement.

According to the announcement, sellers can use Amazon’s Service Provider Network’s IP Accelerator program at no additional cost and can opt to interact with legal firms directly and independently for services of their choosing at mutually agreed rates.
