Amazon India Inked an Agreement with the Silk Mark Organization of India

Amazon India has signed an agreement with the Silk Mark Organization of India (SMOI). As MoU’s (Memorandum of Understanding) part, through multiple vendors being connected with the organization, Amazon will release an exclusive Silk Mark Store with Silk Mark Labelled items.
With the help of this partnership, there will be a huge effect on the lives of numerous weavers and craftsmen those are affiliated with more than 4,200 Silk Mark registered users across the country.
Initially, over 3,000 products will be showcased by Amazon India and customers will get access to genuine 100 per cent pure silk products such as sarees, dress materials, scarves, jackets, salwar kameez set, ties, shirts etc., which are Silk Mark assured.
Rajit Rajan Okhandiar, CEO of the Central Silk Board stated, “The exclusive Silk Mark Store on Amazon Karigar and Amazon India bazaar is in line with the government’s Go Digital mandate and will help over 4,200 Silk Mart registered users across India hit millions of Amazon customers”.
He also added, through this partnership, users who are Silk Mark authorized can expand their trade and provide direct and indirect employment to several weavers, silk farmers, and craftsmen, those are working for them.
The certification of Silk Mart is an initiative of the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles. The label of Silk Mark is affixed only on pure silk products by the authorized Silk Mart users.
Each label consists of a hologram and a unique number that is printed on it in order to help the customers to trace the product back to the authorized user.
The statement added that sellers, those are a part of SMOI, will be able to take advantage of additional advantages by selling their goods on the Amazon India marketplace, including lower referral fees, shipping and product’s delivery, imaging and marketing support, technical training and business and sales support.
Amazon India also stated that it has partnered HP GAS, in order to simplify payments for gas cylinders.
A partnership between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) and Amazon.in will help customers with the option to book and pay for their HP GAS cylinder refill.
The customers can simply go to Amazon Pay tab on the Amazon app or website, then book the cylinder and pay through any digital mode like UPI, debit cards, credit cards, or net banking.
Rakesh Misri, Director Marketing at HCPL stated, “The emphasis was on providing our customers with satisfaction to foresee the latent needs of customers and meet them with continuous and sustainable improvements. Our collaboration with Amazon is to promote online booking and payment for HP GAS is another step towards enhancing customer experience and supporting the Digital India initiative”.
