Government of India: introduce PUC certificate for all vehicles uniform across the country
The ministry of road transport and Highway has issued a notification that would standardize the PUC (Pollution Under Control) certificate for all vehicles across the nation and link the PUC database to the National Register.
The Centre has allowed that all vehicles in the nation use the same PUC (Pollution Under Control) certificate. The government has done away with the requirement to acquire a new PUC for the same vehicle at different locations across the nation, according to a notification published by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
A QR code will now be printed on the form, containing information on the vehicle, its owner, and the status of the emission. The vehicle’s owner’s mobile number, name and address, engine number, and chassis number will all be included in the new PUC. Anyone may use this to acquire information on a certain vehicle from the database.
The subject of a rejection slip is being presented for the first time, according to the statement. “If the test result value exceeds the maximum permitted value, as specified in the applicable emission regulations,” the statement added, “a consistent type of rejection slip is to be issued to the vehicle owner.”
It is further said that this document can be shown to a service center to have the vehicle maintained or utilized if the P U C center gadget fails to function correctly when tested at another center.
According to the statement, if an enforcement officer has reason to believe that a motor vehicle is not complying with emission standards, they will communicate with the driver or any person in charge of the vehicle in writing or via electronic mode, directing them to submit the vehicle for testing at any of the authorized PUC testing stations.
“The owner of the vehicle shall be accountable for payment of penalty if the driver or person in control of the vehicle fails to submit the vehicles for compliance or the vehicle fails to comply,” it stated.
“If the owner fails to comply with the new rule, the registering authority shall suspend the certificate of registration of the vehicle and any permission issued, for reasons to be documented in writing, until a valid PUC certificate is created,” it stated.
