IRCTC Unveils Its Online Bus Booking Services

- The integration of online booking will enable the public to book bus tickets through mobile.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) has been successful in launching its online bus booking services that went live for the service of the nation on 29th January.
A statement that was issued by IRCTC state that “Under the leadership of the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, IRCTC is advancing steadily to firmly position itself as the country’s first ‘One Stop Shop Travel Portal’ government.”
It also added that “In a recent development to provide consumers with a more comprehensive travel experience, on 29 January 2021, IRCTC, which is already in the online rail and flight ticket booking market, launched its online bus booking services that went live for the nation’s operation.”
It is expected that the implementation of this service via the IRCTC Mobile-app will be completed in the first week of March, enabling the public to book bus tickets via mobile as well.
As per the statement, in order to demonstrate online bus booking services to passengers, the IRCTC has connected more than 50,000 state road transport operators as well as private bus operators covering 22 states and three union territories.
The new feature of online bus booking will be allowing the customers to view a variety of buses and to choose the appropriate bus for travel considering route, reviews, amenities, ratings and bus image available. Along with this, the customers will be capable of choosing their pick-up and drop points and even timings and can finally book their journey at a reasonable cost with the ongoing bank and e-wallet discounts as well.
The new IRCTC business initiative will be offering last-mile access to travellers who are already using IRCTC train and flight ticket booking services.
