Renowned director and Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Kasinadhuni Viswanath passed away at 92 on Thursday (February 2) in Hyderabad’s private hospital. Celebrities mourned his death. The five-time national award winner was suffering from age-related ailments.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Twitter for the renowned filmmaker. He referred to K Viswanath as a stalwart of the film world and acknowledged his immense contribution to the industry. The filmmaker’s mortal remains have been kept at his residence in Hyderabad.

Vishwanath was born on 19 February 1930 in the Guntur district. He started his innings as a film director in 1965 with the film Atma Gouravam. He directed more than 50 films in his career. Apart from directing, K Viswanath also ventured into acting. He was seen in Kuruthipunal, Pandurangudu, Narasimha Naidu, Bagavathi, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Seema Simham, among others.
He became the 48th recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest recognition in Indian cinema. He was honored with the award for the year 2016.
Viswanath is widely regarded as one of the finest film directors in the Telugu film industry, and he is known for his unique style of filmmaking and storytelling.
