- Post the COVID-19 pandemic, people have come on to the LinkedIn platform ‘in droves’.
- LinkedIn is growing at an immense pace based on job seeking as well as a platform that people are looking for help and support.
- Users have started to share their professional moments that are now at home.
“People have started to use LinkedIn more often at difficult times in order to find support. The pandemic in India has been like a growth business for LinkedIn. Since January, there has been a huge increase in the number of people joining LinkedIn. It had almost 5 million members joining LinkedIn in India and since 2009, it has grown 20x in the country. The growth is seen at an immense pace based on job seekers as well as a platform that people are looking for help and support”.
Microsoft owned LinkedIn said that it has seen a 60% increase in content creation on the platform in the month of March 2020 as compared to March 2019. The pandemic has led to key product changes. There is a large number of professionals seen signing up to join LinkedIn at a rate of around 3 new members per second.
After we have seen the ‘stories’ feature on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, LinkedIn has come up with the ‘LinkedIn stories’ feature in India from 6th October. LinkedIn stories has already launched this feature in the US, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Netherlands, and the UAE. From now on users will be able to publish photos and videos up to 20 seconds long that will be visible on their profiles for 24 hours.
“LinkedIn is also set to introduce a lot of new features to it and few of them are messaging, video chat, and search changes. It has integrated video chats in messaging for the ability to create a Zoom chat or a Microsoft teams chat or BlueJeans chat and it has added instant reactions, which is similar to other chat apps”.
Based on the feedback from the users, LinkedIn will be coming up with its biggest change on mobile as well as on desktop that will be an entirely new ‘visual refresh’.
