Startups Are Creating A Benchmark In Workforce’s Diwali Hampers

A handful of startups such as upGrad, MoneyTap, Cashfree, CoinSwitch Kuber, HomeLane and Wingify are going the extra mile to make the festival special for employees during Diwali, hampers have been laid low by the pandemic.
Companies continue to engage in making staff happier, amid the struggles of the past few months and focusing on more customised and substantive gifts.
CEO of Xoxoday, Sumit Khandelwal, a tech platform for rewards, incentives and engagement, said that start-ups aim to make this process as contactless and interactive as possible.
“We see a lot of potential in giving interactive activities, such as online cooking lessons, online tours, as well as philanthropic options for gifting,” Khandelwal said. The prevalence of digital gift cards, Remote work hamper such as chairs, electronics and health packages. Employees are also gifted in therapy sessions with behavioural health as a focus.
Managing Director Mayank Kumar said Edtech company upGrad decide to send personalised gifts to family members, instead of company employees.
Kumar said, “Company expenses have grown and we want them to feel unique because they are all operating from home,” he added “We need to thank members of the family who are our extended base of staff.”
Sapna Sukumar HR head said Gifts expenses have also expanded many other start-ups, and the companies are pursuing options that workers can enjoy with their families. Start-up payment portal Cashfree has provided Bluetooth headphones, Kindles and extravagance chocolates to employees.
Wingify CEO Sparsh Gupta, who had earlier granted all workers a home-office budget of 35,000, said it was shipping out books, snacks and Amazon vouchers.
Co-Founder Srikanth Iyer said start-ups with pared budgets are seeking to spread contributions that would be beneficial. For eg, HomeLane sends out custom nameplates and home decor pieces as well as WFH accessories such as an adapter that allows an indoor cycle to be used while working.
