Team India will start their Super 12 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday (23 October). Rohit Sharma does not have much time to play with the playing XI as the second warm-up match against New Zealand on Wednesday (October 19) was called off because of rain. The venue of the 2022 T20I World Cup tournament is Australia. The last time the two teams met in the 2021 T20I World Cup, Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets in their Super 12 match in Dubai to register their first win against India in World Cup.

- Date- 23rd October 2022
- Time- 1.30 pm (IST)
- Venue- Melbourne cricket ground, Australia
Weather and Pitch report
According to reports, La Nia is currently in effect in East and South East Australia. In such a situation, there is a high possibility of rain disrupting the matches of the Super-12 round of the T20 World Cup. This includes the first match of the Super-12 between Australia and New Zealand to be held in Sydney and the match between India and Pakistan to be held in Melbourne on 23 October.
If the match between India and Pakistan is canceled due to rain, then both the teams will get one point each. Under the rules, a minimum of 5 overs is required for a T20 match and in the current T20 World Cup, there is no separate reserve day for the group stage except for the semi-finals and final.
Pitch Report
Melbourne’s pitch often offers a fine balance between bat and ball. The fast bowlers can get some good carry and bounce here, especially in the early stages. But the role of spinners on this ground may be less. With rain hovering over Melbourne for Sunday’s clash, the pitch and conditions are likely to assist the seamers as well.
