BUSINESS SOFTWARE INDIA

A Journey of Innovation in Emerging Technologies

The world has been undergoing a huge transformation since the introduction of artificial intelligence’s enhanced capabilities. Business industries are seeking ways to use AI in their favor to stay relevant and adaptive. A few platforms have emerged as thought leaders to give reliable solutions in the face of complexities with clarity and depth. Business Software India (BSI) has become one such innovator, which is a hub for innovative discourse and intellectual exploration.

We recently hosted a compelling discussion with the leadership team of the company about the rising prominence of AI and how its transformative potential is being utilized by their institution to help the business landscape. Mr Bhaskar Banerjee is the CEO of the company, and Ms Manashi Chakraborty spearheads the company as the COO. In the conversation with us, they both shared insights into the implications of AI across various industries and BSI’s role in being at the forefront of this big shift.

The company profile

The organisation was set up in 2017 by Bhaskar and Manashi. They both set up Business Software India (BSI) as a dynamic force in the tech world. With its roots in artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, the company has carved a niche for itself, delivering innovative solutions to enterprises, particularly in the fintech sector. Among its remarkable achievements is the development of the world’s first licensed stock exchange based on blockchain, which is operational in Mauritius.

However, the leaders emphasised that BSI’s vision goes beyond niche markets. According to Manashi, the company is pivoting towards providing mass-market solutions that cater to broader business needs.

The service portfolio

The key solutions that Business Software India provides are an array of tech solutions as mentioned below:

• AI for Sustainability: BSI helps businesses and governments to achieve environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The Company develops AI solutions for the agriculture, education, real estate, media marketing, supply chain, and fintech businesses.

• Blockchain for Transparency: BSI’s Blockchain solution promotes sustainable supply chain operation, transparent ecosystem for education sector, fractional real estate investment platform, decentralised finance by improving transparency and efficiency in the business ecosystem.

Vision and Mission: Bridging Innovation and Practicality

The disruptive potential of blockchain and AI is the focus of BSI’s vision. The vision stems from the deep technical expertise of the leaders with the foresight of creating wonders with it. Starting with blockchain during its infancy in 2010-2011, the co-founders realized its immense potential beyond cryptocurrencies, exploring applications in secure, immutable systems for enterprises. “Our goal has always been to utilize emerging technologies to create practical, scalable solutions,” says Mr. Bhaskar.

Coming to the mission behind the establishment of BSI, it is all about bridging the gap between innovation and usability with AI and Blockchain to provide solutions that not only excel in terms of tech advances but are equally impactful across diverse industries.

Resilience Leading to the Growth

BSI’s journey has not been without challenges. The global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 posed significant obstacles, disrupting traditional business avenues and compelling the company to rethink its focus areas. While fintech remained a stronghold, BSI identified opportunities in real estate and began exploring blockchain’s applications in that domain. Ms. Manashi explains, “During the pandemic, businesses were struggling, and so were we. It forced us to adapt and find new applications for blockchain technology, like in real estate.

While the transition wasn’t seamless, it allowed us to expand our horizons.” However, the post-pandemic boom of AI has significantly influenced the company’s future prospects. Now, AI is just ubiquitous, its applications are growing rapidly, and as booming AI company, BSI combines global expertise with local innovation to deliver cost-effective and futureready software for businesses to solve complex business challenges and unlock new business opportunity.

Evolution and Challenges of AI

As per Bhaskar, the discussion on the implications of AI in modern society often centers on its transformative potential and inherent challenges. There is a distinction of two key concepts in the world of AI too: Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Job-Specific Narrow Intelligence (JNI). Though AI is shaping industries now, it has its limitations. During the dialogue, the speakers emphasized that JNI is often exemplified by tools like ChatGPT for text generation and MidJourney for image creation.

This model usually operates on predefined patterns. For JNI systems, a diverse amount of data is fed to the system for recognizing the patterns and replicating them accordingly. The insights discussed noted that while these outputs might appear unique, they are essentially recombinations of existing inputs. Bhaskar specifically pointed out, “If a single pattern of usage, say for the word ‘has,’ is missed during training, the model will fail to recognize that pattern entirely in its outputs.”

This dependency on pre-fed data is what makes JNI inherently limited to what it can or cannot do. It excels at tasks with clearly defined parameters but cannot innovate or justify solutions beyond its training. As a result, it lacks the ability to identify novel patterns or address unprecedented challenges. This limited training capability is what distinguishes it from AGI. AGI is the pursuit of humanlike intelligence. It is basically described as the ultimate destination of AI research. This aspires to mimic human cognitive functions.

For this, the focus is on learning from minimal initial knowledge, adapting through experience, and applying a sense of justification. To define human intelligence, AGI is capable of independently developing novel solutions for issues that were never encountered by the model before. However, the progress of making a capable AGI model is still in continuation, albeit growing rapidly. “AGI will likely arrive soon, and its emergence will open a new chapter in addressing ethical and practical challenges,” speculated Bhaskar.

Hallucinations and the Synthetic Data Dilemma

We happened to ask about the reliability of AI models in the modern world’s implications. To this, Manashi shared that a critical challenge in most of the models is AI hallucination, where AI systems present falsehoods as truths. This issue is especially pronounced in text-based outputs, where interpretability can mislead users. She emphasized that hallucinations are becoming more prevalent as modern models are trained on synthetic data, often generated by other AI systems, which leads to inaccuracies.

“Earlier generations of JNI were trained on organic human-written data. Now, models are increasingly trained on AI-generated data, which includes its own hallucinations, creating a feedback loop of inaccuracies,” Manashi raised concern about the reliability and authenticity of the current AI applications.

Business Connect: What is the solution of synthetic human models for product marketing and brand endorsement?

Manashi Chakraborty: Hybrid Mode of Model which is Virtual Human Models (AI-generated Models) and human models are the future of advertisement and media industry. Virtual Human Models (AI-generated Models) can create life-like AI personas for interactive experiences and can advertise according to customized business requirements. The idea of AI models is gaining traction across industries, particularly in marketing, e-commerce, and entertainment. But there is no doubt that AI and human models will coexist.

AI models will handle traditional, repetitive tasks and human models can focus on roles requiring emotional connection. We develop Virtual Human Models for product marketing and brand endorsement. Completely customized and according to particular business needs.

Business Connect: What are the current gaps in the media marketing industry?

Bhaskar Banerjee:

1. Generic AI-Generated Models: For advertisement, there are other SaaS companies who provide only Gen AI solutions with AI-generated models for the enterprises. Their AI-generated Models are generic, they are neither tailor-made solutions, nor developed for any particular business entity. Hence, those are not enough to create an impactful creative. To create synthetic human model, numerous human factors are needed. We do that for you. We train models according to your particular business needs.

2. Selected Option-Oriented AI Models: Currently, synthetic AI-generated model providers can only generate the person as they like. They can’t even allow training one real human. They allow users to choose from a few pre-trained human voices eliminating the personalization and synchronization with the AI model. Hence, SaaS offers only a set of options that customers can opt for. But we provide tailor-made solutions. We generate models for your exact business needs.

3. Limited Indian Models: Most of the SaaS AI model generators provide limited Indian faces or AI models for their customers. The Indian business diaspora needs an Indian face for brand endorsement. We create organic AI models based on Indian faces and ethnicities and as per the business ideas of our clients.

4. Non-Customised Large Language Model (LLM) for Content Marketing: Usually, SaaS providers develop generic text for businesses. Our AI model can be customized as per text for different businesses based on their industry and target audience. We develop trained Large Language Model (LLM) for your business. Our textual model can generate real-time, adaptive text based on customer interactions. AI analyzes customer feedback and engagement to improve text quality over time. AI-powered translation ensures businesses reach global audiences with accurate and culturally relevant content.

Benefits of Virtual Human Models (AI-generated Models):

1. Dynamic Model: We can instantly style AI models that can be posed and re-skinned for personalized marketing campaigns.

2. Dynamic Schedule of Advertisement Generation: AI models can appear in ads, eliminating scheduling, travel, and legal constraints of working with human talent.

3. Global Reach: Tailor-made AI models to represent different demographics for localized campaigns.

4. Consistency: Virtual Human Models (AI-generated Models) maintain a consistent brand image across campaigns by reusing the same AI persona.

5. Entertainment and Media: AI models can be used for characters in films, games, or as virtual influencers.

6. Scalability: AI models are possible to be produced and replicated infinitely, making them a cost-effective solution for largescale campaigns.

7. Diversity and Inclusion: AI enables the creation of models with diverse features, body types, and appearances, allowing brands to represent a broader audience.

8. Customizability: Real-time customization of AI models by changing hairstyles, outfits, poses, and environments with ease.

9. Ethical and Privacy Benefits: AI eliminates the potential for exploitation or privacy concerns associated with human talent.

10. Cost Savings: Reduce costs associated with makeup, costumes, locations, sets, and reshoots.

4. Predictive Analytics : AI analyzes customer behavior, preferences, and demographics to create hyperpersonalized brand endorsements.

Practical Challenges in Media and Advertising

Our conversation with Bhaskar and Manashi transitioned to the practical implications of AI capabilities in the media and advertising industry. To this, Bhaskar and Manashi enunciated that traditional advertising involves hiring models, which can be expensive and time-consuming, and AI offers a potential solution by generating synthetic human models for advertising campaigns.

These AI-generated models are cost-effective, unique, and can be tailored to specific brand requirements, which have the power to disrupt conventional methods. Bhaskar and Manashi remarked in the same tone, “Big companies invest heavily in hiring and endorsing models which are followed by big-budget photoshoots and other expenses. By generating entirely synthetic yet lifelike models, we can offer enterprises a unique and scalable solution, saving both time and resources.”

Human judgment to identify the AI’s misuse

AI’s prominence and easy accessibility have also raised concerns regarding the privacy of common people and other risks associated with its usage. The discussion concluded with a focus on the importance of human discernment in evaluating AI-generated content. Bhaskar being a tech evangelist, asserts that while it is easier to identify synthetic elements in visual and audio mediums—such as the absence of imperfections that naturally occur in human creations—evaluating text requires deeper analysis.

Online AI content detectors can help determine the origin of text, but critical thinking remains essential, and it couldn’t be believed to be true. “Applying a sense of justification and logical reasoning can help identify hallucinations and ensure that we don’t blindly trust AI outputs,” implied Bhaskar.

A Promising Future

As BSI continues to evolve, the company remains committed to leveraging its foundational expertise in blockchain while embracing the immense potential of AI and other emerging technologies. With a forward-thinking approach, the organization is poised to make a significant impact on global markets, providing software solutions that are not just innovative but also tailored to meet the real-world needs of businesses.

At last, we are truly appreciative of the way Business Software India has become a beacon of resilience and a relentless pursuit of innovation. These qualities are making it a promising player in the competitive industry that would ensure its continued growth and success in the years to come.
