Calicut University’s Interzone Arts Fest ‘Kalaikya’ to Kick Off on February 22
The five-day cultural spectacle, Kalaikya, is organized by the university’s student union, Aikya, and will include college students from Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad.
According to The Hindu, the festival’s ceremonial precursor, Kalavara Nirakkal, took place on February 21 at Valanchery. Valanchery municipal chairperson Ashraf Ambalathingal commemorated the anniversary by receiving a basket of organic veggies from writer Munawwar Valanchery, symbolising the event’s community-driven nature.
The festival organizers have taken an unusual step by procuring food and veggies from local citizens and organizations in Valanchery and surrounding areas. These supplies will be utilized to produce meals for participants, authorities, and volunteers, with a dining facility capable of accommodating up to 500 people at one time.
According to The Hindu, the festival would include a variety of competitions in music, dance, theater, and literature, with youngsters demonstrating their creative abilities. Members of the organizing committee, including CP Hamza, Saleem Kuruvambalam, PK Hamza, Vinu Pullanur, and Mohammedali Neettukattil, have worked closely to ensure that preparations go well.
With cultural enthusiasm at its pinnacle, Kalaikya is intended to be a great celebration of creativity and artistic expression, creating brotherhood among students from all of the university’s connected colleges.
