Mahindra Thar Facelift Launch Soon: What to Expect in the Updated SUV
The introduction of the Mahindra Thar Roxx, which added cutting-edge technology to a very simple off-road SUV and underwent several design revisions, altered the notion of the “Thar” brand. Without the technological improvements, the three-door Thar stayed the same and was still available for purchase. With the introduction of the Thar Facelift, the Indian manufacturer now intends to change that. The SUV will undoubtedly premiere in September 2025, even if the exact date has not yet been set. Here’s what to anticipate from the car before to the event.
Tests of the Mahindra Thar facelift have been observed prior to its release, and spy photos have provided a number of data about the next generation. The Thar now has the same vertical slat grille as the Thar Roxx, starting with the exterior design. Additionally, it will use the headlamp design from the same-named five-door Roxx. An LED projector with C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) is part of this system. Furthermore, the LED turn indicators, fog lights, and front bumper are all the same as those on the Roxx.

The inside of the Thar facelift will be significantly improved with a freestanding 10.2-inch infotainment display that replaces the previous 7-inch model and enables wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the steering wheel, which is in front of the 10.2-inch completely digital instrument cluster, is a mirror image of the Thar Roxx’s. There are no cameras, though, and it looks to still have a manual inside rearview mirror (IRVM), which suggests that advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) won’t be included.
Regarding the mechanical characteristics, it is anticipated that the Mahindra Thar facelift would preserve current features without making any changes. The same 1.5-liter diesel, 2.2-liter diesel, and 2.0-liter gasoline engines will still be available. Both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) versions will be offered, with manual and automatic transmission choices. This increases the ladder-on-frame SUV’s off-road capability.
