Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, a member of Zubeen Garg’s band and a crucial witness, has disclosed startling information regarding the Assamese singer’s demise. He accuses event organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta and his manager Siddharth Sharma of poisoning the artist. He said there was a plot behind the death.
According to News 18, Goswami said in his remand letter that the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore, a foreign place, was chosen in an effort to hide the murder and make the killing seem unintentional.
Zubeen Garg died on September 19. He was in Singapore to commemorate the India-ASEAN Year of Tourism and the 60th anniversary of India-Singapore diplomatic ties. According to the 52-year-old singer’s autopsy report, he drowned while swimming off the island of Singapore.
What was asserted by Goswami?
According to the remand note seen by News 18, Goswami said that Sharma was heard yelling, “Jabo de, jabo de” (let him go), while Zubeen Garg was allegedly foaming at the mouth and nose.
Goswami also asserted that witnesses believe Zubeen’s death was hastened by Sharma’s failure to seek immediate medical attention, dismissing these serious warning symptoms of foaming as simple “acid reflux.”
Zubeen was a “expert swimmer,” Goswami added, implying that he could not have drowned naturally. Goswami also claimed that Sharma attempted to stifle evidence by telling him not to release any video footage of the boat incident.
What we now know about the death case of Zubeen Garg
- Four persons have been placed under police detention in relation to Zubeen Garg’s death thus far. They are Goswami and the co-singer from the band, Siddharth Sharma (Garg’s manager), and Shyamkanu Mahanta, who organizes the event.
- In Singapore, an autopsy was performed after Garg’s passing. However, once the singer’s lifeless remains were sent back to India, the Assam government demanded another autopsy.
- The Singapore Police warned the public not to circulate recordings after sharing Zubeen Garg’s autopsy report with India earlier in the day.
