Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Delayed to November 19, 2026
Fans eagerly awaiting Grand Theft Auto 6 will have to wait a bit longer. Rockstar Games announced on Thursday that the game’s release has been postponed to November 19, 2026. Originally planned for a 2025 launch, GTA 6 had previously been rescheduled to May 26, 2026, before this latest delay.
The anticipation for GTA 6 is particularly high because the previous installment, Grand Theft Auto V, was released in September 2013. The 13-year gap between the two titles marks the longest in the series’ history.
GTA 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida and follows the story of criminal couple Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Players will have the ability to control both characters as they explore Leonida, which includes a return to the iconic city from 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
To put the excitement into perspective, GTA V remains one of the best-selling video games of all time. As of 2025, publisher Take-Two Interactive reported that the game has sold 220 million units, making it the second-highest-selling video game globally.
