The IPL 2026 auction is set to kick off today, with all 10 franchises gearing up for an intense bidding battle at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. With just an hour to go before proceedings begin, teams are finalising their strategies to fill key gaps in their squads.
A total of 369 players have been shortlisted for the auction, competing for 77 available slots, including 31 overseas positions. Among all teams, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have the highest number of vacancies, with 13 slots to fill, followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are looking to sign 10 players.
In terms of spending power, KKR also enter the auction with the largest remaining purse, amounting to ₹64.30 crore, giving them significant flexibility at the table. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are next on the list, with a purse of ₹43.40 crore, after completing player retentions and trades ahead of the auction.
