According to a company executive on Tuesday, Xiaomi has begun distributing the most recent HyperOS 3 upgrade to a number of Xiaomi, Poco, and Redmi phones and tablets. With the update, Android 16 is now available on even more Indian devices. The first phones to come with the operating system were the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which were unveiled during the tech company’s September 2025 launch event. In addition to Android 16, the HyperOS 3 update adds new animations and widgets, as well as a number of new AI-enabled writing and editing capabilities.
HyperAI features are included in the HyperOS 3 update.
Sandeep Sarma, Associate Director of Marketing and PR at Xiaomi India, disclosed that the Chinese tech company has begun releasing the HyperOS 3 upgrade for new devices. According to the business official, the new Android 16-based operating system will soon be released for the Xiaomi 14, Pad 7, Redmi Note 14 5G, Redmi 13, Poco F7, and Poco M7 Pro 5G. The devices of Xiaomi and its sub-brands, Redmi and Poco, will have a number of new capabilities thanks to the most recent firmware version.
If a user has one of the aforementioned devices, they can check to see if the Android 16-based HyperOS 3 update has been installed on their phone or tablet. To accomplish the same, navigate to Settings, scroll down to the My Device area, tap the HyperOS banner at the top, and then click the Check for update option. You will see a Download and Install Update option if your device has the most recent firmware. The device may restart many times to finish installing the update after it has finished downloading.
The HyperIsland functionality is now available for Xiaomi phones thanks to the HyperOS 3 upgrade, which was released in September. It works similarly to Apple’s Dynamic Island, where users can quickly view critical warnings by seeing a pill-shaped notification at the top of the screen. Additionally, when the phone is connected in, the home screen will provide real-time activity updates and the rate at which it is charging.
Additionally, a “dual-island” design is introduced in Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 upgrade. This eliminates the need for users to transition between apps by enabling them to expand, manage, and switch between tasks and apps from their present screen. Additionally, it enables users to turn still photographs into dynamic backgrounds and cinematic lock screens.
The Xiaomi HyperAI tools are also integrated into the HyperOS 3 upgrade, which is based on Android 16. It has AI writing tools including DeepThink mode and sophisticated screen recognition. Users can instruct their phones to alter the tone and writing style of emails and texts thanks to this feature. The upgrade also includes AI Speed Recognition, which can be used to summarize audio files, create real-time transcripts, and improve the quality of audio recordings.
