India’s LPG Crisis LIVE: In response to rumors that the supply of cylinders has been impacted by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Center asked states and Union territories to monitor LPG supplies on a daily basis, take severe measures against violators, put an end to rumors, and uphold law and order.
As restrictions on the distribution of LPG cylinders to commercial entities, such as hotels and restaurants, raised concerns that domestic consumers might be next, induction cooktops swiftly ran out of stock on internet marketplaces.
Nodal officers from the ministries of information and broadcasting, petroleum, and natural gas have established a round-the-clock control center under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Every year, India uses over 31.3 million tonnes of LPG. Up to 87% of this is found in homes, such as kitchens, while the remaining portion is found in businesses like lodging facilities and dining venues. 62% of this total requirement is satisfied by imports.
The Strait of Hormuz, a vital sea route via which India imports 85–90% of its LPG from West Asian countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, is closed as a result of the US-Israeli attacks on Iran and Tehran’s countermeasures.

On Blinkit, nearly all induction cooktop listings are marked out of stock. Amazon still has limited availability, with brands like Kent and Usha remaining in stock, while most other options are sold out. On Flipkart, Kent cooktops are largely available, but several other brands have gone out of stock.

LPG Shortage: Bengaluru PGs Advised to Restrict Gas-Heavy Dishes
The PG Owners Welfare Association, Bengaluru has issued an advisory urging paying guest accommodation owners to implement temporary gas conservation measures due to the ongoing LPG shortage. Bengaluru hosts an estimated 15,000–25,000 PGs.
Following a core committee meeting, the association noted that LPG supply disruptions have created significant challenges and recommended immediate steps to ensure uninterrupted food availability for residents, including limiting dishes like dosa, chapathi, and poori.

Centre Holds High-Level Meeting With States to Monitor LPG Supply
With LPG availability under pressure amid the Middle East conflict, the Centre convened a high-level meeting with States and Union Territories to review the supply situation and ensure smooth distribution nationwide.
The meeting was chaired by the Union Home Secretary and attended by Chief Secretaries, Director Generals of Police, and senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Ministry of Consumer Affairs.
Officials reaffirmed that the LPG Control Order issued on March 8, 2026, mandates refineries and petrochemical complexes to maximize LPG production and prioritize supply for domestic household consumers.
