Over the course of 20 years, Elon Musk has given birth to 14 children.

The inventor of Tesla became a parent for the first time in 2002 when his ex-wife, Canadian novelist Justine Wilson, gave birth to their son, Nevada Alexander, who sadly passed away at the age of ten weeks. Five additional children were born to the couple: triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, as well as twins Vivian and Griffin.

Musk married and divorced actress Talulah Riley twice after divorcing Wilson in 2008 after seven years of marriage, but they never had children together. Two years after they were initially connected, Musk and artist Grimes revealed in 2020 that they had welcomed their first kid, X ¾ A-12, together.

Exa Dark Siderael, a girl, and Techno Mechanicus, a male, are the couple’s two other offspring. According to court records released by Insider, the tech CEO also surreptitiously fathered twins, Strider and Azure, in November 2021 with Shivon Zilis, an official at one of his firms, Neuralink, just weeks before the birth of their second kid.

Then, in February 2024, the couple had a daughter, Arcadia. Musk and Grimes were searching for a Bel Air house where they could live with all of his children and their moms, a source told PEOPLE later that year.

Author Ashley St. Clair disclosed that she and Musk had a kid in February 2025; the infant’s name was subsequently identified as Romulus. Zilis then revealed that, while it’s unknown when, she and Musk had discreetly welcomed their fourth child, a son named Seldon Lycurgus.

In May, St. Clair revealed to The New York Times that Musk had informed her that he had also fathered a kid with a Japanese pop singer. However, this allegation has not been verified.

Nevada Alexander

In 2002, Musk and his first wife, Justine Wilson, welcomed a son, Nevada Alexander. He tragically died of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) at the age of ten weeks.

Wilson writes, “Nevada went down for a nap, placed on his back as always, and stopped breathing,” for Marie Claire in a 2010 story. “By the time the paramedics resuscitated him, he had been deprived of oxygen for so long that he was brain-dead.”

She went on, “We decided to remove him from life support after three days at an Orange County hospital. When he passed away, I held him in my arms.

Wilson described the couple’s quest to grow their family in her Marie Claire column.

Less than two months after Nevada’s death, I made my first visit to an IVF facility in order to deal with my sorrow. Elon and I intended to conceive again as soon as possible. I had twins and then triplets during the following five years,” she stated.

One of Musk’s twins filed a petition in April 2022 to have her gender recognized as female and to officially alter her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson, which is her mother Justine Wilson’s maiden name. Vivian clarified in court records that PEOPLE was able to get that she no longer wanted “to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”

In June of that year, the petition was finally approved.

In October 2022, Musk told the Financial Times that he thinks Vivian doesn’t want to be connected to him since neo-Marxists are allegedly taking over prestigious colleges and institutions.

“It’s full-on communism . . . and a general sentiment that if you’re rich, you’re evil,” said the boss of Tesla. “I have excellent relationships with all the other kids, but it [the relationship] may change. Not able to win them all.

In July 2024, Vivian commented on Threads to Musk’s claim that his “son is dead” and that he was “tricked” into permitting her to get gender-affirming medical procedures.

“There is a reason why this whole thing is entirely made up. He just wasn’t there, so he doesn’t know what I was like as a child, and for the brief time he there, I was constantly attacked for being gay and feminine,” she wrote.

Vivian discussed her choice to speak out in an interview with NBC News.

“I think he was under the assumption that I wasn’t going to say anything and I would just let this go unchallenged,” she continued. “Which I’m not going to do because I won’t just overlook it if you’re going to openly lie about me in front of millions of people. I would estimate that he was present 10% of the time. That is really generous. He was only partially present, and he had half custody.

Grimes, who is the mother of three of Musk’s children, expressed her support for Vivian on X by saying, “I love and am forever endlessly proud of Vivian.”

Vivian continued to criticize her father on Threads in August 2024, calling him “pathetic” and a “serial adulterer.”

Griffin has mostly avoided the spotlight, although in May 2024 he accompanied his father to an American Express event in Miami. Musk commented, “That’s my eldest son, Griffin, who was with me at the event,” beside a picture of the two riding X.

In an interview with Teen Vogue in March 2025, Vivian stated that she does not see all of Musk’s children as siblings.

“I will admit that, if you count half-siblings, I have no idea how many siblings I truly have. It’s just an interesting fact,” she said. For two truths and a lie, it works really well. I learned about Shivon Zilis at the same time as everyone else.

In an interview with YouTube personality Hasan Piker in March 2025, Vivian stated that her father’s political views were not the result of “some tragic character motivation” for her change.

Kai, Saxon and Damian

Two years after delivering twins, Wilson gave birth to three boys in 2006: Kai, Saxon, and Damian. Although she and Musk have not publicly acknowledged the children individually, she disclosed in a 2017 TedTalk that they were also conceived through IVF.

According to historian Walter Isaacson’s 2023 biography of the tech tycoon, Elon Musk, Damian turned vegetarian at the age of eight in order to “decrease my carbon footprint.”

Isaacson said that Damian is a math and science genius and a master of classical music. Maye, Musk’s mother, even said to her son, “I think Damian is brighter than you.”
