NEW DELHI: A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Morigaon district in Assam early Monday morning, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported. The tremor occurred at 04:17 IST, with its epicentre at 26.37°N latitude and 92.29°E longitude, at a depth of 50 km.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property, officials said. Residents in parts of central Assam, including Morigaon, reported mild to moderate tremors. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation and monitoring seismic activity in the region.
