The Election Commission (EC) has urged political parties to avoid misusing AI-based tools to generate deepfakes that could distort information or spread misinformation on social media.
After a day of intense talks in Delhi, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) national president Chirag Paswan appeared alongside BJP leader and Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Thursday evening (October 9, 2025). Rai described the discussions as “positive”, noting that the outcomes of the talks would be announced at the appropriate time.
Sources indicate that Mr. Paswan has scaled back his earlier demand for 40 seats, submitting a revised list of 35. The BJP, however, is reportedly willing to offer no more than 25 seats, which Paswan may accept if the party agrees to the specific constituencies he prefers.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has implemented stringent measures to ensure compliance with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), warning that any violations, including the spread of AI-generated misinformation, will be dealt with strictly and firmly.
