The Man at the Helm
Chitvan Vashistha’s journey is a testament to his curiosity and passion for understanding business intricacies. He holds a CS (Company Secretary), followed by an LLB, and an M.Com (Hons) in Economics and Finance Management, giving him a wide-angle view of organisations from legal, financial, and structural perspectives.
Before stepping into entrepreneurship, Chitvan worked as a compliance officer in a major MNC, where he learnt discipline, risk assessment, and the importance of creating stable systems.
In 2020, he leapt and founded Blue Berryfun, a product-based IT company focused on life-safety technology solutions. Chitvan’s leadership philosophy focused on continuous learning, and he advises early-stage startups, sharing his expertise and guiding founders through challenges.
In an exclusive conversation with us, Chitvan Vashistha shares insights into the company’s vision, innovations, and plans for the future. Here’s what he had to say…
BCM: For a better understanding of the reader, let’s have an overview of your organisation and the offerings.
Chitvan Vashistha: We are a product-based IT organisation headquartered in Jaipur, India, and part of NovoTrax Inc., a USbased company. Our focus is on building life-safety technology solutions that make a real impact.
Our offerings include AI-powered gun detection, real-time location tracking systems, wearable safety tags with instant alert capabilities, and secure data-sharing tools with strict access control.
These solutions come together under our Smart City Technology suite, currently serving education, healthcare, and business sectors. We are actively expanding into new areas.
Alongside our commercial work, we also run an NGO named Blueberry Social Foundation, through which we provide free education to around 150 students every day.
BCM: How did you identify the need for a solution and services like this? How did your journey start?
Chitvan Vashistha: Our journey began in 2020 when I was working at an MNC. I was settled in my role, but an opportunity to start India operations for a US-based company sparked a new path. It was not an easy decision – we were not from traditional business backgrounds, and the path ahead was uncertain.
But the product’s potential and our belief in the vision drove us to take a calculated risk and leap into entrepreneurship.
The need for our solution became clear as we saw modern safety challenges evolving faster than traditional systems could handle. Institutions needed smarter tools for gun detection, realtime alerts, and incident response to protect people effectively. That gap is where our journey started – resolving a real problem affecting communities every day, not just building a business.
BCM: How has the industry’s scenario changed over the years? How has it assisted in your progress?
Chitvan Vashistha: The IT industry’s transformation has been remarkable. The pandemic was a catalyst, accelerating digital adoption and creating a surge in demand for smarter, more reliable technology. As we navigated this shift, AI emerged as a game-changer, redefining how we build products and how clients perceive safety, automation, and efficiency.
This evolution pushed us to innovate faster and think beyond isolated solutions. Today, clients expect seamless integration, real-time insights, and robust security. These rising expectations have actually helped us refine our approach – we are building an ecosystem that communicates intelligently, responds swiftly, and empowers stakeholders with actionable information.
BCM: Please throw light on the challenges you face in your domain. How do they affect your leadership?
Chitvan Vashistha: Leading in life-safety technology is multifaceted: it pushes you to growth as a leader every day. One of my biggest challenges was scaling a team rapidly while navigating my own leadership. When people look to you for direction, you need to find clarity within yourself. It required a lot of reflection, learning, and making tough calls even when the path was not clear.
I’m grateful to have partners who complement my strengths; together, we make a solid leadership team. The real challenge is balancing business growth, innovation, client satisfaction, and employee well-being – all at once. It is about creating a workplace where people feel valued and motivated while pushing boundaries.
These challenges have shaped my leadership style – I have learnt to stay adaptable, stay calm and keep people at the heart of decisions. And honestly, it’s work: we have grown steadily, and our teams and clients are happy.
BCM: How do you distinguish yourself in terms of business and leadership in the industry?
Chitvan Vashistha: What sets me apart is treating growth, people, and product as one ecosystem. A company becomes strong when its people feel strong – that is the mindset driving us.
We do not just chase targets; we build with purpose. Every product solves a real problem, making communities safer. That’s our north star, even in a fast-shifting industry.
As a leader, I balance ambition with empathy. I take risks but never at the cost of leaving my team behind. Transparency, calmness, and accessibility – that’s how I lead. People walk into my cabin with concerns, ideas, or doubts, and they leave feeling heard and supported. Leadership is not about being loud; it’s about creating a room where everyone feels safe to speak.
BCM: How does R&D contribute to your growth? Mention some flagships (if any).
Chitvan Vashistha: R&D is the backbone of our growth. In lifesafety and smart-city tech, yesterday’s solutions will not cut it. R&D keeps us ahead, letting us explore new technologies, challenge assumptions, and build products that push boundaries.
It is not just about innovation; it is about empowering our team. When we invest in research, they feel confident to experiment, challenge ideas, and think bigger. That curiosity translates into better products, faster improvements, and stronger client trust.
BCM: How do you approach leadership during uncertain or challenging times?
Chitvan Vashistha: I stay calm, grounded, and very intentional. I focus on the outcome we want and infuse every conversation with confidence – the team picks up on that energy. I am more than just a leader; I am a mentor who listens, guides, and helps people see possibilities even when things feel unclear.
I also learn from my partners – we balance each other, and that unity gives the team stability.
When the person at the front is steady, the whole organisation feels it.
BCM: What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs starting in tech?
Chitvan Vashistha: My biggest advice is to stay relentlessly curious. Learn from anyone you can—mentors, colleagues, books, even failures. The tech landscape changes fast, and the people who thrive the quickest are those who keep learning.
Don’t overlook soft skills. Being able to communicate clearly, build trust, lead conversations, and understand people is just as important as understanding the product itself.
And above everything, be your own source of motivation. There will be days when no one will clap for you, and that’s when you need to remind yourself why you started, what you’re capable of, and where you’re heading.
Here is a mantra I live by: “Your mindset is your first product; make sure it’s built well.”
Everything else grows from there.
