Mumbai: Panic spread across social media as false news of Bollywood veteran and one of Indian cinema’s most beloved stars, Dharmendra, circulated online. Several platforms claimed that the actor had passed away at the age of 89, often accompanied by old photographs, which fueled the rumor further. However, as of the time of reporting, Dharmendra is alive. This has been confirmed by his family, with his elder son Sunny Deol’s team clarifying the matter via Twitter.
Shortly after false reports of his demise went viral, Dharmendra’s wife and Member of Parliament, Hema Malini, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to refute the rumors, assuring everyone that the veteran actor is completely safe and his condition is stable.
Hema Malini tweeted:
“Please do not pay attention to rumors. Dharmendra Ji is perfectly fine. He is under medical supervision, and his health is steadily improving. We request the media and fans to refrain from spreading false news and to pray for his speedy recovery.”
According to sources, Dharmendra was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for a routine health check-up. Doctors have confirmed that his condition is stable and he is receiving normal treatment. The family has also firmly denied claims that he was on a ventilator.
This is not the first time that false news regarding a legendary film star has circulated online. Social media posts shared without verification have repeatedly caused unnecessary confusion and concern. In response, several members of the film fraternity have urged the public to confirm news from reliable sources before sharing.
Affectionately called the “He-Man of Bollywood” by his fans, Dharmendra is one of the most respected and popular actors in Hindi cinema. He has delivered memorable performances in superhit films such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Seeta Aur Geeta, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, and Dharam Veer. His on-screen and off-screen pairing with Hema Malini has been widely celebrated.
The family has appealed to the media and fans to respect Dharmendra’s privacy and continue wishing for his swift recovery. Following this incident, the Cyber Cell has also warned that those spreading fake news could face action under the IT Act.
