Gas companies have made major adjustments to their booking policies due to a lack of LPG cylinders. In order to schedule their next cylinder, customers will now have to wait longer than before. No client will be able to reserve a gas cylinder prior to a predetermined waiting period under the new regulations. Maintaining a balanced supply and guaranteeing gas availability for those in need are the goals of this action.
For the normal 14.2 kg household cylinder, the required waiting period between reservations has been expanded. This waiting period was once 25 days, but it is now 35 days. This implies that you have to wait at least 35 days after receiving a cylinder before making another reservation. This law will only apply to customers who have a two-cylinder connection, or “double-bottle” connection, within the jurisdiction of Indian Oil Corporation.
Rules for Different Categories of Consumers
Different consumer categories are subject to different laws set by gas companies. The “Ujjwala Scheme” beneficiaries would now have to wait longer. Now, participants in this program must wait 45 days before making their next reservation. On the other hand, customers with a single-cylinder connection will only be able to schedule a new cylinder 25 days following their last delivery.
Consumers who live in rural areas are subject to much more stringent regulations. They now have to wait 45 days before making another reservation. Furthermore, it is now required to provide a One-Time Password (OTP) at the time of delivery. Additionally, a customer’s reservation may be canceled if they do not finish their e-KYC verification.
Twelve cylinders annually
The corporations have also implemented a new procedural requirement in response to the LPG shortage. Every consumer is entitled to 12 subsidized cylinders per fiscal year, which runs from April 1 to March 31, according to government policy. Before they can make any more reservations, customers who have already used up their 12-cylinder annual quota will need to submit more information. They must use the mobile application of their gas supplier and respond to a series of questions in order to accomplish this. The number of family members, the frequency of visitors to the home, and details about any impending weddings or significant occasions will all be covered by these questions.
Companies will decide whether to give the customer an extra cylinder based on this information. All things considered, these new rules have been put in place to better control gas supplies and guarantee that cylinders are supplied in accordance with real needs. These rules must now be followed by customers when making reservations for gas cylinders.
