Mamata Banerjee to TMC Leaders: ‘No Need to Attend Anti-SIR Rally, Just Keep Watch’
West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has instructed her party leaders not to participate in the opposition’s anti-SIR (Southern Industrial Region) rally, emphasizing that they should instead observe the developments closely.
During an internal meeting held on Monday, Banerjee reportedly advised her senior party members to stay alert and monitor political activities surrounding the rally rather than directly engaging in them. She clarified that the TMC’s focus should remain on developmental projects and public welfare programs rather than getting involved in political confrontations.
According to sources, Banerjee’s decision aims to maintain political distance from the protests while ensuring the party stays informed about any developments that could affect the state’s industrial and economic interests.
The anti-SIR rally, organized by opposition groups, is aimed at voicing concerns over alleged land acquisition and displacement issues linked to the proposed Southern Industrial Region project.
