Providing Computer Literacy to Under-served Students: Newgen Software Donates 180 Computers to NGO Computer Shiksha
New Delhi,14-07-2025 – Newgen Software, a leading global provider of digital transformation solutions, has donated 180 computers to Computer Shiksha, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing computer literacy to under-served students. This donation reinforces Newgen’s commitment to corporate sustainability and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
Through this initiative, Computer Shiksha has already deployed 115 computers to successfully establish computer labs in 15 schools, providing regular computer literacy classes to 3090 under-served students. The enabled schools are located in 5 states – Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. The students in these low-budget schools will now have the opportunity to build essential computer skills, fostering better learning outcomes and future career prospects.
“At Newgen, we believe in leveraging technology to create a positive social impact. By supporting Computer Shiksha, we aim to bridge the digital divide and empower young minds with the knowledge and tools necessary for a brighter future,” said Priyadarshini Nigam, Whole-Time Director at Newgen Software.
Computer Shiksha receives end-of-life computers from corporates, refurbishes them to set up fully functional computer labs in schools that lack the infrastructure. Not just a one-time instalment of computers, it provides free video courseware, teacher training, assessments, certification and lifetime maintenance of the computers. Each donated computer lasts for another 5-7 years and is used by 30 students every week.
“We are grateful to Newgen Software for their generous contribution. This donation directly translates into enhanced computer literacy for thousands of under-served students who previously had no access to computers. Each computer lab that we set up brings us closer to our mission of making computer literacy accessible for all 25 crore students in India,” said Dr. Rakesh Suri, Founder President at Computer Shiksha.
Newgen Software’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) extends beyond technology and business solutions, focusing on community engagement and environmental responsibility. By donating computers for education, the company is taking meaningful steps toward a more inclusive and sustainable future.
