Nissan Gravite Unveiled: The Affordable 7-Seater MPV That’s Going to Give Indian Car Markets a Shock!
On December 18, 2025, Nissan India unveiled its much-awaited compact 7-seater MPV, officially titled *Gravite*. Nissan’s comeback in the budget family mover segment could be classified in terms of category strategy; it has marked the beginning of an aggressive lineup in the Indian vehicle market with at least three models.
The Gravite, which is derived from the word ‘gravity’ to symbolize balance, stability, and attractive force, is designed for certain Indian families who look for a cost-effective option. It focuses on adaptability, seating, and optimized space, which is ideal for the roads and needs of Indian cities.
Design and Styling: A Fresh Nissan Twist on a Familiar Platform
Developed on the successful CMF-A+ platform shared with the Renault Triber, the Gravite boasts distinct Nissan design elements. A series of confirmatory images include aggressive V-motion grilles, slimmer and elongated LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, muscular hoods with creases akin to scoops in current models like the Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition and QASHQAI, and sportier bumper designs emphasizing the upright stance of this new breed of cars. Similar upgrades are seen at the rear with new tail-lamps and a strongly etched ‘Gravite’ marking on the fixed boot lid.
Even as it retains a compact dimensions and sub-4-meter size, Nissan has tried to make it look premium and different enough from its cousin, Renault, when it came to design.
The Gravite boasts of a versatile seating arrangement in a 2+3+2 format, with the ability to remove the third row to create arrangements to seat either 5, 6, or 7 persons. The spacious boot compartment is a great help in family outings or on grocery trips.
Expected features are:
- Touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto -8 inches
- 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster
- Automatic climate control
- Cooled glovebox
- Cruise control
- wireless charging
- Numerous airbags and latest safety tech for worry-free driving
Powertrain: Reliable and Efficient
Mechanically, the Gravite follows a proven recipe of a 1.0-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine churning an estimated 72bhp and 96Nm of torque. The transmissions come paired with a 5-speed manual and an AMT as well, making it a fuel-efficient and low-maintenance vehicle despite the absence of a turbocharged and hybrid vehicle yet.
Pricing and Launch Timeline
Nissan has positioned the Gravite as a budget model, with estimated starting prices ranging from ₹6 lakh to ₹9 lakh (ex-showroom price). This puts it right up against the Renault Triber, but it is more affordable than the likes of the Maruti Ertiga. The complete launch in the markets is scheduled to happen in early 2026, and the delivery is expected to begin in March itself. It will be assembled in Nissan’s Chennai plant.

The Gravite will be the first model to hit the roads, soon to be joined by the Tekton Mid SUV in mid-2026 and another 7-Seater SUV in early 2027, thus catering to the ever-increasing MPV segment. Budget buyers looking for a generouslyspace and loaded 7-seater may find it hard to resist the Nissan Gravite.
