Development of Production
The fourth season’s two-part release schedule, their plan to create a Netflix spinoff series set in the show’s universe, and the show’s renewal for a fifth and final season were all revealed in a lengthy letter about Stranger Things that the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, released on February 17, 2022. Producers later hinted at a fifth season run in 2017, despite the duo’s initial statement that the program would continue for a maximum of four seasons.
