The LPG industry in India has undergone a remarkable transformation over the last two decades. This shift has revolutionised the way industries operate, moving away from traditional liquid and solid fuels towards more economical, efficient, safer, greener, and cleaner LPG solutions. The industry’s evolution has been marked by improved safety standards, with stricter regulations and quality standards enhancing safety protocols, ensuring more handling and storage of LPG. Growing awareness about the benefits of LPG has led to widespread adoption across industries, including households, commercial establishments, and automotive sectors.
SUPERGAS’s Journey of Growth and Excellence
The journey of SUPERGAS began with a simple yet ambitious goal: making LPG accessible to homes, commercial kitchens and Industries across India. Despite the challenges of building a distribution network, establishing quality standards, and gaining customer trust, SUPERGAS persevered to meet the diverse and customised needs of customers. Their focus on safety and sustainability, innovative products and services and quality has helped establish a strong foundation.
Since its inception in 1996, SUPERGAS has gradually expanded across India and now boasts an impressive infrastructure, including 2 owned terminals and access to 4 contracted import terminals, 22 filling plants (including both owned and contracted), 4 depots, 400+ franchisees, 50+ ALDS stations and a dedicated fleet of delivery vehicles. By encouraging local entrepreneurs to become franchisee partners, SUPERGAS has created a win-win situation where partners get to be a part of a globally renowned brand while SUPERGAS strengthens its local presence, ultimately fuelling growth and innovation in the LPG industry.
Milestones and Achievements
SUPERGAS has achieved many significant milestones throughout its journey. The company has successfully built a multi-state distribution network and served lakhs of satisfied customers and maintained excellent safety standards while constantly evolving to reduce its carbon emissions.
SUPERGAS has strengthened its footprint through strategic acquisitions, including Maha Gas in 1998 and Caltex (a subsidiary of Chevron Group, a major US global Oils & gas company) in 2010. The company has driven innovation with the launch of the Liquid Off-Take (LOT) LPG cylinder, Heaterless Vapouriser, Electronic Auto Changeover Device and valueadded services such as Continuous Gas Monitoring System, Flue Gas Analysis, Safety Audits and Maintenance service.

Pioneering Sustainability through Green Initiatives
Since 2012, SUPERGAS has started to keep tabs on their carbon emissions and has set up annual target & initiatives to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emission.
SUPERGAS has strategically invested in rooftop solar installations across multiple filling plants and partnered with Sun Source to leverage open-access solar electricity for the Tuticorin terminal. Today, an impressive 75% of the energy consumed by filling plants & terminals is generated from green electricity, significantly reducing Scope 2 emission and overall electricity cost.
The use of LPG as a cleaner energy source has a profound impact on reducing carbon emissions. By switching from liquid fuels like furnace oil and diesel to LPG, SUPERGAS and its customers saved over 68,910 metric tonnes of CO₂ in 2024 alone, equivalent to the planting of an astounding 2.1 million trees.
