Thamma Movie Review: A Well-Packaged Entertainer

Thamma Movie Synopsis:
Thamma is a bloody love story with a mix of romance, action, and supernatural elements. Alok Goyal (Ayushmann Khurrana), a TV reporter living with his parents (Paresh Rawal and Geeta Agarwal), goes trekking with friends in the hills. During the trip, a bear attack leaves him injured, and he is saved by a mysterious woman, Tadaka (Rashmika Mandanna). As they grow close, Alok is captured by a strange tribe led by Yakshasan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Tadaka defies her own clan to rescue him, leading to a series of events that put both their worlds at risk. What happens next forms the rest of the movie.

Story and Screenplay:
The story, written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara, is inspired by Indian folklore and feels refreshing. The screenplay flows smoothly, keeping the audience engaged with tension and curiosity. The dialogues are witty and sharp, especially the funny lines delivered by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. However, some parts of the writing feel a bit rushed and could have been developed more.

Direction:
Aditya Sarpotdar, after his success with Munjya (2024), once again impresses with his direction. He blends supernatural tension, humor, and emotion well, keeping the story simple and appealing to a wide audience. Several scenes stand out, such as Tadaka’s first appearance, her dinner with Alok’s parents, and the moment she saves Alok from the goons. The intermission is dramatic, and the climax is gripping, with a visually stunning fight sequence before the final scene.
