With “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” movie theaters in the United States finished the year well, but the industry is still far from the pre-pandemic box office. According to statistics firm Comscore, the North American box office in 2021 was $4.557 billion, more than double the box office in 2020, when cinemas were closed for most of the months due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, when compared to the total of $11.4 billion in 2019, it’s still down 60%.
