The Indian Pharmaceutical industry plays a prominent role in the global pharmaceuticals industry. According to reports, one-fifth of the medicines supplied in the American market go from India. India has the largest number of pharma plants complying with US FDA regulations.

With around 1400 WHO-GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) approved pharma plants, and 253 European Directorate of Quality Medicines (EDQM) approved plants, India is the world’s third largest producer of drugs by volume. Many pharma companies are making India proud by meeting global demand. It has a global presence in over 100 countries with subsidiaries in the US, UK, Russia, Germany, and Brazil; joint ventures in China, South Africa, and Australia; Establishment of representative offices in 16 countries and third-party distribution in 21 countries. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd reported a revenue of INR 17,460 crore in 2020.
