Like Suryavanshi, Mhatre, who is 18 on Wednesday, built a name for himself in the 2025 Indian Premier League.
The Mumbai-based cricketer made his IPL debut on April 20 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against the Mumbai Indians before being recruited by the Chennai Super Kings on April 10 as an injury replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad. Mhatre played at number three for the MS Dhoni-led team in his first IPL match, getting 32 runs off 15 balls with four fours and two sixes.
In the May 3 encounter against RCB at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, he had his greatest batting performance of the 2025 IPL. Despite scoring 94 runs off of 48 balls in the match, he was unable to assist the Men in Yellow in winning.
He participated in seven IPL 2025 games overall and scored 240 runs, including a half-century.
Mhatre got 102 runs off 115 balls in the opening innings of the inaugural India-England junior test. He hit Archie Vaughan for a four to reach his century. Ayush scored 32 runs off of 43 balls in the second innings.
Mhatre has also represented Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Ranji Trophy, and Irani Cup. Currently, he has amassed 504 runs in 16 innings in nine first-class matches and 458 runs in seven List A matches. 181 runs is his highest score in 50-over cricket.
