Prior to the Tayron R-Line’s India premiere later this month (February 2026), Volkswagen has begun accepting pre-orders for its premium SUV. Customers can reserve the vehicle through its official digital platforms and authorized dealerships for a pre-booking fee of Rs 51,000.
Volkswagen will make its debut in India’s high-end seven-seater SUV market with the Tayron R-Line. The vehicle is positioned as the brand’s flagship product for the Indian market and is being domestically assembled.
There will only be one fully equipped version of the new SUV available. According to the manufacturer, it will have 14 Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) capabilities that are industry-leading. As part of the company’s ambition to increase its local portfolio and meet the demand for larger SUVs, it will be produced in India at Volkswagen’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra.
A 2.0-liter TSI EA888 EVO4 gasoline engine with a maximum power output of 204 PS and a maximum torque of 320 Nm powers the Tayron R-Line. The engine comes with a standard 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system and a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. According to Volkswagen, the SUV has a top speed of 224 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds.
The Tayron R-Line boasts 19-inch alloy wheels, R-Line style elements on the front doors and bumper, illuminated front and rear emblems, and IQ Lights with HD Matrix headlights. The SUV’s interior features include a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, a 15-inch infotainment screen, and an augmented reality head-up display. Additional amenities include a 700W Harman Kardon sound system, 30-color ambient lighting, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory, ventilation, massage, and lumbar support.
Nine airbags, electronic stability control, hill ascent and descent control, and driver profile selection with six driving modes are among the safety features. High-power USB-C connections, wireless charging, a gesture-activated tailgate, and a three-zone temperature control system are all included with the SUV.
Dolphin Grey Metallic, Oyster Silver Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, and Oryx White Mother-of-Pearl Effect are the seven exterior color options available for the Tayron R-Line.
In India, Volkswagen presently offers vehicles including the Golf GTI premium hatchback, Tiguan R-Line premium SUV, Virtus mid-size sedan, and Taigun mid-size SUV. After its launch, the Tayron R-Line premium seven-seater SUV is anticipated to further solidify the brand’s position in the premium SUV market.
