9 Years of Yogi Government: Massive Changes in Women Empowerment You Should Know
Lucknow: The Yogi government’s nine-year rule in Uttar Pradesh has proven to be a thorough and significant stage in the empowerment of women. Women are now fully integrated into the state’s development thanks to policies based on four fundamental pillars: security, dignity, social protection, and economic self-reliance. Women in Uttar Pradesh have gone from being “beneficiaries” to “leaders” thanks to programs like Mission Shakti, self-help organizations, and programs encouraging women entrepreneurs.
In Uttar Pradesh, women’s economic engagement has increased at a rate never witnessed before. Through 9.43 lakh self-help groups, the Rajya Gramin Ajivika Mission has connected over 1.06 crore women. In villages, these women are increasingly becoming a new engine of economic activity.
Furthermore, 35 lakh women have been identified under the “Lakhpati Didi scheme,” of which 18.55 lakh have already attained the “Lakhpati” status. This represents a major change in the rural economy.
2,682 fair price stores have been assigned to self-help organizations in an effort to increase women’s involvement in the Public Distribution System. These women now oversee the delivery of dry rations, increasing both their pay and transparency.
The “BC Sakhi model” has given the state a new identity in the area of financial inclusion. These women have earned commissions surpassing ₹120 crore and facilitated financial transactions worth over ₹45,000 crore in rural areas. It is anticipated that this amount will soon reach ₹50,000 crore, increasing their revenue even more.
This change is being spearheaded by districts like Prayagraj, Bareilly, and Shahjahanpur, which represent an unparalleled expansion of rural banking.
In the dairy industry, women have also reached unprecedented heights. By participating in self-help organizations, over 3.5 lakh women have become self-sufficient through dairy activities, making Uttar Pradesh a prominent state in this field.
This change has been made possible by the Rajya Gramin Ajivika Mission, which has improved women’s social standing and income.
At the local level, the Yogi government’s initiatives are evidently having an impact. A similar number of girls have benefited from the “Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana,” progressing toward education and a better future, while almost 26.81 lakh impoverished women have earned social security through pensions.
The “Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana” has helped over 60 lakh women, and the “Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana” has helped over 1.05 lakh children.
Over a million children have been reunited with their families through “Mission Vatsalya,” guaranteeing social rehabilitation. In a similar vein, approximately 5.20 lakh girls have been married under the “Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana,” which has significantly helped families with lower incomes.
The Yogi government has handled women’s empowerment not only monetarily but also within a larger framework of social security, as this complete framework demonstrates.
Due to the cumulative effects of these initiatives, women’s empowerment in Uttar Pradesh is now a broad movement rather than just one program. The state’s economy has benefited from women’s active participation at every level, from self-employment to safety.
The comfort of living for women has improved over the last nine years because to government policies, technology, and efficient implementation. Today, women’s power is the cornerstone of a developed Uttar Pradesh and has become the strongest pillar of this “new development” phase.
