In an intriguing twist in the much-anticipated showdown between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, both prominent figures in the tech industry, a subtle war of words once again unfolded between them.
It all began with Zuckerberg’s Instagram story, where he posted, “Send me the location,” along with a screenshot of Musk’s original tweet challenging the owner of Meta (formerly known as Facebook).
Musk, not one to stay silent, responded by accusing Zuckerberg of evading the challenge. On his platform X (previously known as Twitter), Musk shared, “Fight Recap: I joked on X about fighting Zuck, Zuck then said “SEND ME LOCATION” Italy graciously offered a Colosseum Zuck declined I suggested his home as “safe space” Tragically, he was ahem “travelling” Is there anywhere he will fight?”
This exchange came after Zuckerberg’s cryptic statement on Sunday, suggesting that he might be stepping back from the fight. In a Threads post, he indicated his intention to “focus on competing with individuals who approach the sport seriously.”
Zuckerberg elaborated, “It’s evident that Elon isn’t taking this seriously, and it’s time to move forward. I proposed a genuine date, and Dana White offered to turn this into a legitimate charitable competition. Yet, Elon has yet to confirm a date. He first claimed to need surgery, and now he’s requesting a practice round in my backyard.”
Musk, feeling provoked by Zuckerberg’s words, took to his platform X and launched verbal jabs at his tech counterpart. “Zuck is acting like a coward,” Musk declared.
According to Variety, the CEOs of Meta and X/Twitter initially ignited talks about an MMA-style cage match through a series of exchanges on their respective platforms. The conversation began with Musk’s response to a Twitter thread on June 20, where he humorously stated, ” I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.”
More recently, Musk announced that the “Zuck v Musk fight” would be livestreamed via X, with all proceeds donated to charity. In response, Zuckerberg subtly criticized X/Twitter’s reliability by suggesting on Threads, “Shouldn’t we opt for a more dependable platform that can effectively raise funds for charity?”
