3 successful entrepreneur stories

01. Adi Dassler of Adidas

No one embodies the humble beginnings of today’s most successful companies more than Adidas founder Adolf Dassler. His career in shoe-making started in his mother’s bathroom in Bavaria, Germany. There, he started designing and making shoes for the athletes.

During that time, there were a lot of shoemakers in the market, but Dassler stuck out by collecting the feedback of athletes to improve the quality of his products.

Through this feedback, he was able to create an athletic shoe that was very valued by his customers. In 1949, he was able to officially register his company as Adidas Sportschuhfabrik. The first shoe with the company’s three stripes was also registered that year.

The vision of Dassler for creating the ideal shoe for athletes was proved in 1954 when Germany won the World Cup while wearing the new Adidas model.

On its website, Adidas noted that the World Cup victory gave the company and its founder a global following.

The story of Dassler shows how important it is to listen to your customers’ needs and dreams in order to grow a successful business.

One of the main factors that contributed to the company’s success was the involvement of Dassler with athletes. According to the company’s website, he was able to listen to what they had to say and improve the quality of their products.

02. Whitney Wolfe Herd of Bumble

After she left the dating app Tinder in 2014 as well as all the websites of online casinos including https://www.playamo.com/en-CA/games/slots/, Whitney Wolfe Herd came up with the idea to create a better dating experience for women.

According to Wolfe Herd, the traditional gender roles in dating and romance had already been outdated. She wondered what would happen if women were more involved in the first move on a potential partner.

She worked with Badoo’s Andrey Andreev and Sarah Mick, as well as former employees of Tinder, to create a dating app that encourages women to make the initial move in relationships.

The app was able to reach 100,000 downloads within its first month.

As the company’s user base continued to grow, Wolfe Herd continued to advocate for various issues, such as sexual harassment prevention and eliminating gender inequality. In 2019, she and her team were able to convince the state of Texas to pass a law that prohibited the sending of sexually explicit photos.

In a letter to users of Bumble, Wolfe Herd said that she was committed to ending the harmful effects of misogynistic behavior. She also stated that she wanted the connections of her users to be healthy and meaningful.

The story of Wolfe Herd serves as a valuable reminder to entrepreneurs to use their own lives as inspiration for their businesses. They should also focus on a cause that they care about and differentiate their brand.

03. Melanie Perkins of Canva

In 2007, while she was working part-time in Perth, Australia as a teacher, Melanie Perkins came across a desktop design software that was very complex and expensive. She wondered if there was a way that it could be simpler and more affordable.

Over a hundred investors turned down her pitch for the design tool known as Canva. However, after three years, the company was able to receive its first investment.

She attributes the company’s first investment to a change in her pitch strategy. She started focusing on the problem that Canva was trying to solve.

According to Perkins, in an interview with Inc., she believed that it was important for entrepreneurs to talk about the problem they were trying to solve. They should also explain how their audience would benefit from the solution.

Over the years, millions of people have used Canva to create designs. The story of Perkins demonstrates the importance of being able to communicate the value of a business idea and the perseverance needed to succeed.
