Making Headways: CAPF (GD) Examination to be held in 13 regional languages.
Breaking new ground, The Union Ministry of Home Affairs released an official statement on February 11, 2024 that, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, The Home Ministry has decided to conduct the CAPF constable examination (GD) in 13 regional languages apart from Hindi and English starting from January 1, 2024.
This step is taken to encourage the participation rate of candidates hailing from non-Hindi and English speaking states. The 13 regional languages that have been included: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Marathi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
CAPF(GD) constable examination will be conducted for recruitment in CISF (Central Industrial Security Force), BSF (Border Security Force), CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force), ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police), SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal), NSG (National Security Guards) by SSC (Staff Selection Commission).
This is a flagship program. The Home Ministry has signed an MoU with SSC in 2023 to conduct the examination in 13 regional languages apart from Hindi and English for the CAPF constable (General Duty) examination.
The recruitment exam will be conducted between February 20 and March 7, 2024, in 128 cities across India, with about 48 lakh candidates sitting for the examination.
This move is taken by the government to tackle the anti-Hindi stand by some states and to provide candidates from non-Hindi and English backgrounds an equal chance to participate in the examination, with the comfort of writing the exam in their regional language.
