Hyderabad Cab Drivers Protest: No ACs Until Fares are Fair

In a bold move, cab drivers in Hyderabad have decided to protest against what they claim are unfair fares imposed by aggregators Ola, Uber, and Rapido. The drivers have vowed to refuse to turn on their air conditioners until their demands are met, leaving passengers to bear the brunt of the summer heat.

Hyderabad Cab Drivers Protest: No ACs Until Fares are Fair

The Drivers’ Demands:
The protesting drivers are seeking a revision of the fare structure, which they claim is unfair and doesn’t take into account the rising costs of fuel, maintenance, and other expenses. They are also demanding better incentives and benefits from the aggregators.

The Impact on Passengers:
With the ACs switched off, passengers will have to endure the sweltering heat while traveling. This move is likely to cause inconvenience to commuters, especially during peak hours. The drivers, however, are adamant that their demands must be met before they resume normal services.

The Aggregators’ Response:
Ola, Uber, and Rapido have yet to officially respond to the drivers’ demands. However, sources suggest that the aggregators are likely to engage in talks with the drivers to resolve the issue amicably.

The Larger Implications:
This protest highlights the long-standing issues between cab drivers and aggregators. The drivers’ demands for fair fares, better incentives, and benefits are not unique to Hyderabad and reflect the concerns of drivers across the country. The outcome of this protest will be closely watched, as it may set a precedent for future negotiations between drivers and aggregators.
