Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Presents First BJP Government Budget in 27 Years, Focus on Infrastructure, Education, and Healthcare

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the Budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the Assembly on Tuesday. This marks the first budget by a BJP-led government in Delhi in 27 years. The budget prioritizes key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, water supply, sanitation, and pollution control. The BJP government, under CM Rekha Gupta’s leadership, had sought public suggestions for the budget, receiving over 10,000 responses via email and WhatsApp.

Key Highlights of Delhi Budget 2025-26

  • Rs. 500 Crore for Yamuna Cleanup: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta announced a ₹500 crore allocation for cleaning the Yamuna River. Efforts will include tapping drains flowing into the river and treating sewage through new infrastructure.

  • 40 New Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs): The government plans to construct 40 new STPs and upgrade existing facilities with modern equipment worth ₹40 crore.

  • Rs. 200 Crore for Najafgarh Drain: A dedicated fund of ₹200 crore has been allocated for the revival and maintenance of the Najafgarh drain.

  • Rs. 200 Crore for Canal Pipeline: The canal bringing water from Haryana to Delhi will be converted into a pipeline at a cost of ₹200 crore.

  • Rs. 2,000 Crore Request from Central Government: To upgrade Delhi’s water and sewage infrastructure to world-class standards, the state government has requested Rs. 2,000 crore from the central government.

Delhi Budget 2025-26: Focus on Clean Water and Sewer System Upgrade

  • Rs. 9,000 Crore for Water Supply and Sanitation: CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that providing clean water to every household is a top priority.

  • Upgrading Delhi’s Sewer System: The entire sewer infrastructure will be upgraded to ensure better waste management.

  • Expansion of Water and Sewer Pipelines: The budget allocation will support the installation of new water pipelines and the expansion of sewer lines.

  • Access to Clean Drinking Water: Every citizen will benefit from improved access to safe and purified drinking water.
