Jaipuria Group Acquires ClearDekho to Bolster Consumer Retail Presence

In a strategic move to deepen its footprint in the consumer retail sector, the Jaipuria Group has acquired ClearDekho, a leading affordable eyewear brand, as announced on April 22, 2025. The acquisition sees Jaipuria Group taking full ownership of ClearDekho with a 100% stake, while existing shareholders are set to exit within two years. ClearDekho will retain its brand identity but will be fully managed by the Jaipuria Group, with potential integration into its parent entity as the business matures.

Founded in 2016 by Shivi Singh and Saurabh Dayal, ClearDekho has carved a niche in providing high-quality, budget-friendly eyewear to low-income consumers in Tier II, III, and IV cities across India. With over 100 stores in more than 50 cities, the brand boasts a gross margin exceeding 65% and has achieved a remarkable 3x growth over the past three years. Its omnichannel approach, blending online sales with franchise-owned, company-operated (FOCO) stores, has bridged the accessibility gap in the optical retail market. In FY24, ClearDekho reported revenue of Rs 23.6 crore and aims to hit Rs 40 crore in FY25, with plans to launch 50 new stores.

The Jaipuria Group, known for its diversified portfolio spanning education, FMCG, and real estate, views this acquisition as a gateway to tap into India’s burgeoning eyewear market, projected to reach $5.58 billion in 2023. ClearDekho’s focus on underserved markets aligns with Jaipuria’s goal of expanding its consumer-facing businesses. Posts on X highlight the deal’s potential, with some speculating ClearDekho could emulate Warby Parker’s success in India, targeting a Rs 300 crore topline in three years.

While the deal size remains undisclosed, the acquisition strengthens Jaipuria Group’s retail portfolio and positions ClearDekho for accelerated growth under new management. As the eyewear brand continues its expansion, leveraging Jaipuria’s resources, it aims to standardize the largely unorganized optical retail sector, catering to millions seeking affordable vision solutions.

This move marks a significant milestone in India’s D2C eyewear space, with ClearDekho poised to redefine accessible eye care. Stay tuned for updates on how this acquisition shapes the retail landscape.
