The story of Thinnadu, a tribal boy who becomes an atheist as a child, is chronicled in Kannappa. Inspired by the history of the Sri Kalahasti temple, the movie delves into the inner turmoil and defiance of ancient traditions of Thinnadu. In the end, he falls in love and weds a country girl (played by Preity Mukhundhan).
The story’s central theme is Thinnadu’s journey from atheist to fervent devotee of Lord Shiva, which embodies the spiritual core of Kannappa’s fabled devotion.
Kannappa Movie Review 2025 – A Divine Saga Unfolds on Screen
Inspection:
The latter forty minutes of the movie are when it really shines, particularly during the emotionally charged conclusion that is sure to resonate with viewers from all demographics. Prabhas’s portrayal of Rudra in the pre-climax scenes is done well. In his capacity as mentor, Prabhas exudes composure and calmness. The rest of the movie, however, occasionally falters and lacks a strong narrative thread that would keep viewers interested. The first part is mostly a filler. Although the settings and song scenes are enjoyable, they don’t really fit into the Devotee movie. Heroine preity fits the part well.
The film’s spiritual tone is further enhanced by the powerful religious songs and lyrics that revolve on Lord Shiva. Overall, though, the conversations lack emotional nuance. Manchu Vishnu’s son plays the part of young Thinnadu, although his English accent makes his dubbing and line delivery quite poor.
Mohan Babu as Mahadeva Sastry had a respectable part, whereas Mohanlal as Kiraata had a brief appearance. Additionally, they both display their experience. Sarat Kumar, a Tamil senior hero, portrays Kannappa’s father. As Lord Shiva and Parvatthi, Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal were a terrific fit for the roles.
Technical:
The climax’s visual effects are quite good and go nicely with the story. Considering the target audience, the production values are appropriate. Notably, rather of using sets, the movie was filmed in New Zealand’s natural settings.Manchu Vishnu’s combined roles as lead actor and producer are commendable. He succeeds in producing a passably good end result in spite of several obstacles.
Positive:
-> Manchu Vishnu Efforts as producer and hero
-> Prabhas ‘s cool role
-> Mohanlal & Mohanbabu appearanced
-> Climax & Pre Climax
-> Devotional Songs
Negative:
-> Filler First Half
-> Lack of depth in writing
-> Poor dialogues
Conclusion:
After a disappointing first half, Kannappa improves in the second half, culminating in a touching finale. In their little parts, Prabhas and Mohanlal project a calm and collected demeanor. You could try it on the big screen because of the talented performers and the work that went into the movie.
