Based on worldwide box office receipts, Scarlett Johansson has achieved a significant career milestone by rising to the top of the acting rankings. The Wrap said that Johansson’s flicks have now brought in a total of $14.8 billion globally.
Hollywood Icon: Scarlett Johansson Leads Global Box Office with $14.8 Billion
This outstanding accomplishment follows the publication of Jurassic World: Rebirth, in which Johansson plays the major role of Zora Bennett, a former military officer assigned to a perilous mission on one of the few dinosaur-inhabited islands that still exist. She replaces previous star Chris Pratt in the film, which is her debut appearance in the Jurassic franchise.
With $318 million in only six days at the box office, Jurassic World: Rebirth is off to a great start worldwide. Right now, it has the second-highest opening of any movie in 2025, only surpassed by China’s animated follow-up Ne Zha 2.
Johansson’s latest lifetime earnings of $14.8 billion, according to box office tracker The Numbers, are derived from movies in which she has starred or been a member of a leading ensemble. Her role of Natasha Romanoff, often known as Black Widow, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly in blockbuster smashes like the Avengers films and Captain America: Civil War, is largely responsible for that success, which totaled over $8.7 billion.
Her first MCU cameo in Iron Man 2 and her voice acting in the animated Sing flicks as Ash, the singing porcupine, are also included in her box office figures.
Johansson, 40, has eclipsed former record holders Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson, who both established their box office careers with Marvel productions. Chris Pratt and Tom Hanks round out the top five.
The fact that Johansson earned $14.8 billion from just 36 starring roles—less than Jackson’s 71 or Downey Jr.’s 45—makes her achievement even more noteworthy.
Both domestic and foreign markets are still dominated by Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Rebirth. With a weekend total of Rs 38.25 crore, the movie did well in India and more than doubled the earnings of Metro, the other significant Hindi release this week. Anurag Basu, director of Dino.
The third Jurassic World movie had a consistent lead over the course of the weekend, according to box office tracking website Sacnilk. On Friday, July 4, it opened at Rs 9 crore. On Saturday, it soared to Rs 13.5 crore, and on Sunday, it ended the weekend at Rs 15.75 crore.
