B Saroja Devi Dies at 87: A Golden Era Comes to an End
The “Abinaya Saraswathi” (Goddess of Acting) was the loving moniker given to Saroja Devi. Born in Bengaluru in 1937, she made her film debut in the 1955 film Mahakavi Kalidasa. However, her performance in Thangamalai Ragasiyam was what made her famous.
She became a popular name in the 1960s and 1970s because to her expressive eyes and varied performance.
At the time, she was one of the few famous women who had experience in many cinema sectors.
Her most noteworthy roles are Kalyana Parisu, Paasa Malar, Aradhana, Anuradha, and Sasural, in which she costarred alongside industry titans Rajkumar, MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, and NTR.
