Apple-Cleanmax, Collaborated To Push Renewable Energy In India

U.S based IPhone maker Apple, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 announced its Joint Venture (JV) with the Mumbai based renewable energy provider Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions, to propel renewable energy production in India.
Through the JV Apple will invest in the 14.4 megawatt (MW) rooftop solar power project, over six industrial sites, the project is aimed to provide clean energy to Apple’s offices that will help deal with the corporate emission, its two retail stores, and will help boost India’s clean energy dynamics.

As per the company, “Apple first attained 100% renewable energy for its operations globally in 2018”. The consumer electronics firm has setted up a target to become carbon neutral by 2030 across all its offices, retail stores and manufacturing units, in short Apple has aimed to become net neutral across all its manufacturing and operations .

As per the data more than 18 GW (Giga Watt) of clean power is being used for operation and manufacturing of Apple gadgets which is thrice the amount of that of 2020.
The 14.4 megawatt (MW) rooftop solar power project is anticipated to reduce 207,000 tonnes of Carbon emission throughout its operational period, said Clean Max on Wednesday.
Kuldeep Jain, Managing Director of CleanMax, on the joint venture, “CleanMax is proud of its joint venture with Apple. Our mission is to be a sustainability partner to corporates, and we consider this JV to be a big milestone in our journey. It showcases an industry-leading approach to the creation of green energy assets. The growing interest from other consumer brands in such joint ventures is a positive sign of the shift towards sustainability”.
While speaking to Mint CleanMax spokesperson said,“As a renewable project developer, we will be responsible for the development, operations and maintenance of the six solar projects. Besides, the management of the JV will be taken care by CleanMax for the lifetime of the projects, which will help decarbonize Apple’s operations in India“.
Further adding to their statement said,“The joint venture entails environmental benefits accruing from the financed projects throughout the project life to assist Apple in addressing the emissions associated with its corporate operations in India”.
