Apple is doubling down on its commitment to India, with plans to open four new retail stores in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai by the end of 2025, following the success of its flagship outlets in Delhi (Apple Saket) and Mumbai (Apple BKC). The expansion, confirmed by CEO Tim Cook during Apple’s Q3 2024 earnings call, aims to deepen the brand’s connection with India’s booming smartphone market, where Apple now holds an 11% market share by volume and 22% by value.
The new stores, reportedly slated for Noida’s DLF Mall of India, Pune’s Kopa Mall, and additional locations in Bengaluru and Mumbai, will offer immersive experiences, including the Genius Bar for technical support and “Today at Apple” sessions for creative workshops. Apple’s retail push aligns with its manufacturing growth, with the entire iPhone 16 lineup now produced in India through partners like Foxconn, Pegatron, and Tata Electronics, supporting the “Make in India” initiative.
Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, emphasized, “Our stores are incredible places to experience the magic of Apple, and we’re thrilled to bring this to more customers in India.” The expansion is backed by a hiring spree, with Apple’s “Jobs at Apple” portal listing roles like IN-Business Pro and IN-Creative to staff the new outlets.
India, Apple’s fifth-largest market, is projected to become its third-largest by 2026, driven by rising demand for premium devices and financing options. The new stores are expected to boost iPhone sales, which set a record in the December 2024 quarter, and enhance Apple’s omnichannel presence alongside its recently launched Apple Store app.
