The Indian Army held a press conference today at 2:30 PM IST at the National Media Centre in Delhi, providing critical updates on the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level talks between India and Pakistan, which commenced at 12 noon. Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, alongside Air Marshal AK Bharti and Vice Admiral AN Pramod, briefed the media on the ongoing ceasefire efforts and the success of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
The talks, the second between Lt Gen Ghai and Pakistan’s DGMO Major General Kashif Chaudhry, aim to reinforce the ceasefire understanding reached on May 10, which halted military operations after days of drone attacks and missile strikes. However, Pakistan’s violation of the truce hours later prompted India to retaliate fiercely. “We remain on high alert. Any threat to our sovereignty will be met with decisive force,” Ghai stated, emphasizing zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism.
Operation Sindoor targeted nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists, including high-value targets like Yusuf Azhar and Abdul Malik Rauf, linked to the IC-814 hijacking and Pulwama attack. The Indian Air Force destroyed 11 Pakistani airbases, while the Navy ensured maritime security. Despite Pakistan’s claim of civilian casualties, India maintains no civilian or military sites were hit, showcasing precision and restraint.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s high-level meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, and military chiefs earlier today underscored India’s firm stance: no talks on Kashmir or the Indus Waters Treaty, and Pakistan must end terror activities. The Indian Army reported a peaceful night along the Line of Control, marking a tentative calm.
As tensions linger, India’s message is clear—peace hinges on Pakistan’s commitment to stopping infiltration and drone intrusions. The nation watches as these talks shape the future of bilateral relations.
