iPhone 17 series leaks include display, design, chipset, and more.

The iPhone 17 series, which is set to debut in September 2025, is already causing quite a stir, with rumors of considerable advancements across the range. Six months after the iPhone 16 series arrived, interest has switched to Apple’s next-generation handsets, which are expected to include some of the most significant improvements since the iPhone X. From improved designs to new camera systems, and much more. Here’s everything we know so far about the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air.

iPhone 17 series leaks include display, design, chipset, and more.

One of the most anticipated versions is the iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to be the thinnest iPhone ever at 5.5mm to 6.25mm thick. This would make it thinner than the current record holder, the iPhone 6, which measures 6.9mm. With a 6.6-inch display, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to lie between the Pro and Pro Max variants in size, providing a new option to the defunct Plus model. Its ultra-thin design might rival the sleekness of the iPad Air, making it a potential standout in the lineup.

In a first for the iPhone series, Apple is apparently adding ProMotion technology with a 120Hz refresh rate to all iPhone 17 models, not just the Pro variants. This update, offered by LTPO OLED screens, offers speedier scrolling, more responsiveness, and better video playing. Furthermore, these screens may feature always-on capability, however Apple is unknown if this would apply to the ordinary iPhone 17 and 17 Air.

Camera systems are also projected to undergo considerable alterations. The iPhone 17 Air and 17 Pro versions are expected to include a new rectangular camera island configuration, replacing the usual square hump. The iPhone 17 Air is reported to sport a single-lens camera, while the Pro versions are anticipated to retain a three-lens camera system. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to have a 48-megapixel telephoto camera, a significant increase above the present 12-megapixel sensor. Meanwhile, all models may have a 24-megapixel front-facing camera with a six-element lens for clearer selfies and video chats.

The iPhone 17 series is likely to be powered by Apple’s next-generation A19 processor, which is constructed on an improved 3nm technology. The Pro versions are anticipated to have the A19 Pro processor, which will provide even higher performance and economy. This improvement should result in better multitasking, quicker app launches, and longer battery life overall. Furthermore, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be the second iPhone to incorporate Apple’s in-house 5G modem processor, replacing Qualcomm technology. While it may not enable mmWave 5G, the chip is predicted to achieve rates of up to 4Gb/s.

Connectivity will also improve, with all iPhone 17 models slated to feature Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. These enhancements will allow for faster speeds, lower latency, and more energy economy, improving wireless connectivity for streaming, gaming, and file transfers. Apple’s own Wi-Fi chip has the potential to improve speed much more.

Another area of concentration is durability, with rumors circulating that the iPhone 17 series would have a harder anti-reflective display covering. This new coating is touted to be more scratch-resistant and durable than the existing Ceramic Shield, providing improved protection against drops and general wear. It should also minimize glare, which improves sight in strong light.

Finally, the iPhone 17 series may continue Apple’s drive on eSIM technology. Following the trend started by the iPhone 14 in the United States, the iPhone 17 series may remove the actual SIM tray in other nations. Due to its ultra-thin form, the iPhone 17 Air is believed to depend only on eSIM technology. It is unclear whether this adjustment will spread to places such as India.
