Japan unveils world’s first 6G device

Japan Unveils 6G Device 20X Faster Than 5G

By Jaya Pathak

World’s first high speed 6G prototype device has been recently unveiled by a Japanese telecommunication group of organization. It has the potential to carry data up to 20 times the speed of 5G. The device can transmit data at 100 gigabytes per second up to a distance of 330 feet.

The leading telecom companies, including DoCoMo, NTT corporation, NEC corporation and Fujitsu collaborated to form this device.

As per a statement given by the representative of these companies, a successful test was conducted on April 11th, which covered a distance of 100 meters in which this device achieved the speed of 100 Gbps with a band of 100 GHz and 300 GHz indoors and outdoors respectively.

The prime distinction between the 5G and 6 G functions is the frequency ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum. Higher speed is associated with operating in higher bands. Higher will be the frequency, faster will be the speed.5G transmissions uses frequency below 6 gigahertz and can be expanded up to 40 gigahertz bands which is also referred to as millimetre wave bands. 6G is anticipated to use“sub-tetra hertz” bands which are of higher frequency ranging from 100 to 300 gigahertz.

Currently, the 5G systems use bands such as 28 gigahertz and other millimetre bands. But the higher frequencies of bands like sub- tetra hertz will require a completely new wireless device in contrast to the 5G systems. As per these companies, this project needs to tackle huge challenges in order to be successful such as figuring out the precise performance standards which the wireless devices must meet in order to operate in the sub-tetra hertz band and then successfully making those devices in reality.

In order to make further advancement in the sub -tetra hertz technology and making the high speed 6G devices to the ground of reality, these 4 companies have made their significant contributions.

DoCoMo has conducted a thorough study on the wireless system configuration of 100 gigahertz to be used in the telecommunications application. They even developed a wireless transmission equipment which has the potential of achieving the speed up to 100 Gbps across arange of 100 metres.

NTT Is concentrated on the development of advanced wireless equipment on 300 gigahertz devices. This wireless device can operate at 300 gigahertz and has the potential to channel 100 Gbps per channel over 100 metres.

NEC Is focused on its research upon the 100 gigahertz band for this wireless system. They have developed a multi element active phased array antenna(APPA) consisting more than 100 antenna elements.

Fujitsu is focused upon developing new technologies for The compound semiconductors. Their innovation has made it possible to amplify signals in the 300 gigahertz and 100 gigahertz band with a higher efficiency and output. It has become world’s highest power efficiency which is required for enhancing communication ranges along with a lower power consumption at the same time.

The development in the advancement of 6G technology is quite significant. It has the capacityto stream 5 HD movies wirelessly every second which made it possible for a high-speed data transfer. However, experts have said that it has the unlimited possibilities when it comes to offer seamless connectivity for future technologies, which enables applications ranging from ultra HD video streaming to real life control in autonomous vehicles.
