Jio Platforms IPO: QIB Category Sees 2x Demand, Fully Subscribed
Institutional investors rush in within minutes of issue opening on Day 1
Mumbai, October 21, 2026: The much-awaited initial public offering of Jio Platforms opened for bidding on Wednesday, and institutional investors moved quickly. The portion reserved for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) was fully subscribed at over 2x demand within a few minutes of the issue opening, according to sources.
Sources said QIB demand stood at 2.86 times at 10 AM. The category reached 1x in just 10 minutes of bidding opening, and 2x in under 30 minutes. The QIB portion comprises 4,90,07,827 shares, and the offer is being billed as India’s largest public issue.
IPO Details
The IPO opened on October 21, 2026, and will close on October 23, 2026. It aims to raise around ₹30,213 crore, with a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per equity share. The quota is split as 50% for QIBs, 35% for retail investors, and 15% for non-institutional investors.
Investors can bid through the QIB, NII, and retail (RII) categories. The issue also has a reserved quota for eligible employees and existing Reliance Industries shareholders.
What Strong QIB Demand Means
QIBs, which include mutual funds, insurers, banks, and foreign institutional investors, hold the largest share of this issue. Their early response is closely watched as a sign of institutional confidence in large public offerings. Strong early bidding does not guarantee the final outcome, though. Retail and non-institutional demand, and the overall subscription at close, will be known only after bidding ends on Friday.
What Happens Next
Subscription numbers for all categories will keep updating through the three-day bidding window. Investors can track live data on the NSE and BSE websites.
