Reliance Jio is preparing to introduce a new JioBook laptop in the Indian market. Amazon has teased the upcoming launch, indicating that the laptop is set to debut on July 31. It remains uncertain whether this will be an updated version of the JioBook launched in October last year or if Reliance intends to sell the previous model through Amazon as well.
While the 2022 JioBook was exclusively available at Reliance Digital stores, Amazon’s announcement only mentions an “all-new JioBook” slated for the end of this month. Some of the key features of the device have been revealed by the e-commerce site, adding to the anticipation.
The teaser from Amazon reveals that the new JioBook laptop will retain the same design as the one unveiled in October last year, featuring a compact form factor and a stylish blue color. The laptop is touted as being suitable for productivity, entertainment, and gaming across all age groups. Notably, it will offer 4G connectivity and an octa-core processor, promising seamless multitasking, high-definition video streaming, and smooth operation with various software applications.
According to the teaser, the latest JioBook will boast a remarkably lightweight design, weighing approximately 990 grams, and will provide users with a full day of battery life. However, the finer details are still undisclosed and are expected to be unveiled during the official launch on July 31.
As a quick reminder, the 2022 JioBook targeted budget-conscious individuals seeking a laptop for basic tasks like browsing and education. The previous JioBook featured an 11.6-inch HD display with broad bezels and a 2-megapixel front camera for video calls. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC with Adreno 610 GPU, it came with 2GB of RAM, limiting smooth multitasking. The laptop offered 32GB of eMMC storage, expandable up to 128GB. Operating on JioOS, optimized for smooth performance, the JioBook included a JioStore, allowing users to install third-party apps on the device.
Equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, the JioBook claimed to deliver up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge, complemented by passive cooling support for heat dissipation. Connectivity options included a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI mini, and Wi-Fi. Interestingly, the laptop came with an embedded Jio SIM card, enabling users to access Jio 4G LTE connectivity. The JioBook was launched at a price below INR 20,000 in India.
